Just when you thought it was all over!

Just when you thought there won't be any more snow... It snows, and boy does it try!
I wouldn't say blizzard conditions but more like a continuing windy flurry is currently taking place.

Any new photos taken will go in the same album as linked before.

Now comes the ice...

Now there's no more snow falling, we turn to ice forming on some roads and paths.
There's no more snow forecast for us for the rest of the week, so unless there's significant ice this blog will take a short nap for now.

Snow Photos Available!

I have just made my special snow photos folder available on Dropbox. Here's the link: http://bit.ly/VSvh78
Unfortunately, I missed having fun in the heavy snow yesterday due to an A Level exam - all I could do was be distracted by the high level of snow falling.
Edit: 10 new photos added, plus 2 videos! [16:20]
[Edit: Time zone corrected on blog.] [16:22]
Edit: Updated Dropbox config - now an album which can be updated from mobile. [09:38 20/01]
Edit: there are many new photos added to the album. Check it out! [11:08 21/01]
Edit: link fixed [15:36 21/01]

Winter Weather update - 21:00, Fri 17.01.13

Update:

The Met Office has revised the weather warning and there is currently an amber warning in place for us starting Friday morning through night with a yellow warning following that for the next two days.
There is also a red warning for Wales (valid from Friday morning) - the first time I've seen a red warning for snow since the new warning system has been implemented.

For the latest information (as I keep saying), visit http://metoffice.gov.uk

I will make available my snow and ice pictures, if any are taken. These will be made available through Dropbox.

Hoping for great snow - fingers crossed!

Looks like snow on the way!

This morning started with a chilly start, with ice on cars, lamp posts and other objects. The scene pre-snow was very pretty this morning.
Frosty
Weather forecast sources are predicting snow with disruption. At the time of writing, the Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for snow over pretty much all of England, with an amber warning for central England. The forecast looks exciting; Friday will feature snow from around 9.00am with possible heavy snow for the afternoon or evening. This may proceed into Saturday or even Sunday.

The best way to stay up to date with the weather is by periodically checking http://metoffice.gov.uk.
The Met Office usually updates weather warnings around noon, so check later. This page may not be updated.

Well, that was pathetic.

Monday's snow was a little pathetic! While we did wake up with snow on the ground, it was probably only one or two millimetres deep.  Hardly enough to enjoy at all. Had the later heavy snow fallen on dry and colder ground, there may have been more depth.

Although more snow is forecast later in the week, there is no warning for snow disruption (yet). Cold weather warning level 3 is still in place.

I believe that if it's going to snow, it should be amazing, otherwise it's full of false hopes and let-downs.

From the most snow-happy Blogger ever, Goodbye.

Snow for January?

Multiple forecast sources are suggesting that there will be snowfall (or at least sleet) over the weekend and into next week.

The Met Office has today (11/01/13) issued a 'Level 2' weather alert for England; this alert is "triggered by the Met Office as soon as the risk is 60% or above for any of the thresholds to be breached".

There is also a Yellow Severe Weather Warning in place for Icy Surfaces on Saturday and Sunday with a moderately high probability although with little impact. In addition, there is a Yellow Severe Weather Warning in place for Snow on Monday with moderately low probability but with moderately high impact. I recommend the sources below for more information (which will be updated on a regular basis, unlike this webpage).

Another source of weather information is Metcheck (http://www.metcheck.com). Metcheck is forecasting quite a bit of sleet over the weekend and next week which, by the looks of it, will turn to rain eventually. Having gone to Metcheck for detailed snow forecasts in the past, I believe it to be quite an unreliable source of weather information regarding winter weather:

The January exams have already arrived and this news of possible snow will be bad news for students who have to take exams this month.

Remember to check the Met Office website before travelling anywhere by car or on foot over the weekend.
